After a really rubbish start to 2016 we decided to book a few trips for the summer. First on our agenda was Barcelona. We went for 6 days and that was by far enough to get everything done. I must say as nice as Barcelona is, it definitely wasn’t my cup of tea. If you hate touristy places then 1000% stay away from La Ramba.

Espai Joliu

Being a Wildlife Conservation student at Uni, you can  understand why instantly this was my favourite coffee shop.

My go to – Avocado on toast!

The day we visited Espai Joliu was my favourite day while in Barcelona. Not only did we find a speciality coffee shop which is centred around plants but we also went to the Zoo straight after. Everything about this place was amazing, from the décor to the people who worked there, even the quirky cheese they put on ‘my go to’ breakfast. I would definitely recommend visiting this place, it makes me very sad that I probably will never go again.

Nomad is probably the most well known speciality coffee in Barcelona. Not only are they a coffee shop but they also roast their own beans. Which is sold in most shops around Spain. They have two shops in Barcelona but we only managed to visit the one as the other was closed the day we went. The coffee lab was in a quiet secluded area, which made it hard to find being a tourist. – I particularly love this as you know its for the locals rather then for the tourists. The Gothic area in which Nomad Coffee Lab is placed reminded me of the Northern Quarter in Manchester (where I am from). So maybe this is why I liked it so much.
